Monday was a slow day, so I decided to spend a good few hours critiquing some articles. As only one person so far has critiqued my submission, it was fairly simple to return the critique. Next I decided to critique some work that hadn’t received any critiques so far, and I also added my 2-cents by way of a
I am hoping this will result in a few returns. Of course, I know people are busy and so I’m not expecting great things! But I am sure someone will reply. To date I’ve had 40 some people read my submission, but only 1 critique. I read in the ‘advice’ section of the site that usually 10 reads generate 1 review. Hmmm, either my work is too boring, too long [I don't think so], too poorly written or I’m too much of a newbie to receive that ratio of review/read.
As this is still a rather new experiment to me, I decided not to try to analyze my stats–but to rather generate some critiques in the hopes that this would start the ball rolling.

Hi Robyn:
Wow, 40 stats is a lot for any sub. But sometimes it means the opposite of what you may think. Some readers will feel that the writing is so good that it doesn’t necessarily merit comment. And I do think that your writing has that level of polish. However, the best thing to do if you want more reviews is to do exactly what you are doing. Review, review, review. And pay attention to those who promise crit-for-crit if that’s what you want in return.
Good Luck!
Jeanne
