Writer’s Tips

Write for money?

Following up on links led first to one article and then to another, I eventually came across a site where it was advertised you could make money from your writing.

Write your article, post your story, rate articles, and may the best writer win. The site I signed up to was Helium.com. I was enthused with the idea of being paid for my writing, and felt after reading some of the articles that I surely would do well. Alas, my adventure into the world of Helium didn’t last long. I realized that I really had to write a lot to make any money, and it was taking all my time to write, and to rate–time that I preferred to use either writing fiction, working on my novel, or critiquing someone else’s work.

I read an interesting article that summed up my feelings here at
Associated Content, which at first glance seems to be a similar site although claims some differences. I am, of course, adding to this person’s page views by linking, but I thought it was an interesting read, so why not?

I’m still undecided. I may pursue something like this further down the line.

One interesting comment made was that everyone enters the pay-to-write mill on the same level, and the better writers rise to the top while those who either aren’t as talented or don’t spend as much time on writing, gradually settle down to the bottom or give up writing for money entirely.
